Art Deco
"The Golden Twenties"
The epoch of Art Deco, whose name is derived from an exhibition in Paris 1925, entitled "Exposition International des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes", does not refer to a certain fashion, but a stream of varios styles. Art Deco serves as the generic term for decorative art.
The "decorative", the non-funtional, the nearness to the applied arts are very important.
The products of the "Art Deco" epoche are characterized by their connection to the most luxurious materials with exclusive decorative patterns, marked by the use of ornaments, their playfulness and the variety of colours used.
Simultaneously, although interdependent, its counterpart can be found in the plain design, created with materials like steelpipe, glass, concrete, also represented in styles like Bauhaus and "Esprit Nouveau".
